Dogs, Cats, Birds, Horses….They comfort, challenge & amuse, some rise to the level of secondary characters.  What Romance pets do you love? Or hate?

Although I care deeply for my own cats, pets don't usually draw me into a romance. However there are always exceptions. S.T. and the Gray mare in  Kinsale's Prince of Midnight, made me cry. She invests so much in that horse, more than she invests in herself.

I deeply identified with Eve Dallas' relationship with Galahad, as it mirrors my own relationship with my cats.  Initial indifference, and that morphs slowly into gentle kind of mutual love and appreciation but also occasional bafflement.
