1. Nalini Singh’s Newsletter Exclusives Vol 1 (short story collections featuring MCs from her major series)

Ranging from sweet slice of slice vignettes to suggestive and sexy scenes, this is a fun way to reconnect without rereading everything!

CWs: grief, references to past traumas.

  1. Archangel’s Ascension by Nalini Singh (UF, Arc out May 6,25, GH 17)

Dual timeline story that straddles hundreds of years to follow Adohan & Illium’s love. All my feelings, joy, grief, humor, & satisfaction!

CWs: murder, PT: stalking, abduction, abuse, SA, abandonment

  1. Booked for Murder by PJ Nelson ( Mystery, WW MC, bk 1)

Really enjoyed this quirky book, engaging, curious and felt true in how the MC stumbles stubbornly through making dangerous choices out of grief and loneliness. Very satisfying.

CWs: murder, alcohol, grief.

Currently listening to a cozy mystery set in small-town Georgia bookshop. The MC makes a very questionable choice early on with terrible consequences but the MC is fascinating in her grief and aloneness that I’m sticking with it. Like the MC I’m heartbroken for the character murdered!

  1. Newsletter Exclusives Vol 2 by Nalini Singh (Various)

Lots of lovely little vignettes but I particularly enjoyed reading “ A Little Bakery” after just having finished Archangel’s ascension. CWs: grief.

  1. Chasing Serenity by Kristen Ashley (WW/WM, Contemporary Rom, dislike to love)

Sparks fly after antagonistic first meet. Lots of family drama but fun dynamic, drama queen & stoic guy that loves her.

CWs: grief, drug use, toxic family, estranged family, references to family member’s suicide.

  1. Taking the Leap by Kristen Ashley (WW/WM, contemporary rom, fake but quickly not!, MMC is double amputee/former firefighter).

Matchmaking Chloe strikes again. Complicated family dynamics & grief and pain about past abandonment & live changes.
CWs: disabled MC, toxic ex, toxic parents.

  1. Making the Match by Kristen Ashley (WW/WM, seasoned MCs, grief/past adultery).
I really liked the complexity of Tom’s longtime connection to Mika, his lingering love for his ex & their complicated relationship. Loved that Mika won’t let him run.
CWs: references to SA/rape, grief, past adultery.
  2. Embracing the Change by Kristen Ashley ( WM/WW, seasoned MCs, grief/best friends)
Skipped Hale & Elsa’s books because the grief there was too much… jumped to Nora and Jamison and I loved it! Great dynamics/stress as the figure things out.
Cw: grief, drug use, jealousy, arson, PT:adultery, CA
  3. Sharing the Miracle by Kristen Ashley (JWW/WM, surprise babylogue)
Yeah still reading the series out of order…this time jumping back to read about their surprise pregnancy & Hale’s struggles to not be overprotective.
CWs: unplanned pregnancy, toxic sibling dynamics, grief.
  4. Fighting the Pull by Kristen Ashley (JWW/WM, hate to love, stalker, grief).
Hale is dealing with massive unprocessed grief, but Elsa triggers him to start making changes but panics and almost breaks them.
CWs: ableism, grief, knife, kink PT: child abuse, suicide of parent, toxic divorce.
  5. Cold Case Kidnapping by Nicole Helm (WW/WM, cults/librarian, Harlequin Intrigue )
I needed a short read after some DNFs, this kiss/hugs only romance was only okay. Not enough anything but I might still read the others??
CWs: cults, SA, drug use, PTSD, grief
